Diario di bordo - Logbook
Percorrere il corso del Danubio è una esperienza di notevole impatto. I video, ottimizzati, raccontano ben dieci ore di volo. Questa volta ci trasporta il Piper 34T Seneca V. Altro trip in VFR. Partiamo nei pressi della sorgente, dall'aeroporto Donaueschingen Villingen (EDTD per raggiungere la Base Aerea Di Manching (ETSI).
Immediatamente viriamo a sud per sorvolare il punto dove il fiume Breg, congiungendosi al fiume Brigach, diventa Danubio. Siamo in Germania, nella Foresta Nera di Donauursprung.
Sorvoliamo nell'ordine: Geisingen, Immendingen, Wurmlingen, Mühlheim an der Donau, il monastero di Beuron, Sigmaringen, prima di arrivare al Mengen-Hohentengen Airfield. Quì una rapida virata verso Nord - Est ci conduce sopra le case di Obermarchtal, poi fino a raggiungere Günzburg e quindi Donauwörth.
La prima tappa sta per arrivare al termine. Si scende per il landing, RWY 07 sulla Base Aerea di Manching.
Il take off prevede una rapida virata a Nord appena giunti sui tetti di Biburg. Poche miglia per ritrovare il corso del Danubio quando mettiamo la prua ad a Nord e poi ad Est su Ratisbona. Le acque scendono a Sud-ESt, le sorvoliamo passando per Oberschöllnach, ancora Germania. A Wimberg entriamo in Austria. Nei pressi cè Passau, in bavarese Båssa: è una città extra circondariale (53.907 abitanti) della Germania situata in Baviera, al confine orientale con l'Austria. È conosciuta anche come Dreiflüssestadt “la città dei tre fiumi”, a causa della confluenza nel Danubio di Inn e Ilz. Da qui inizia la discesa verso l'aeroporto di Linz, situato a 12 km dal centro di Linz, nello Stato federato dell'Alta Austria.
Quando ripartiamo il Danubio lo ritroviamo a Wallsee. Seguiamo le sue curve dal cielo, passando su Ybbs an der Donau, Aggsbach Dorf, Mitterarnsdorf, Rührsdorf, Krems an der Donau, Tulln an der Donau.
La suggetsiva virata a Sud ci mostra Vienna. Pronti alla descend. Tuttavia, prima sorvoliamo Bratislava, siamo già in Slovacchia. Ecco le rive vicino a Győr. Poi Komárno. A Štúrovo è terra Ungherese. Ancora Danubio a Visegrád e così si scende ancora a Sud, verso Budapest: Aeroporto Internazionale di Ferenc Liszt.
Da Budapest si scende verso Sud, poiché il fiume scorre verso un'altra capitale: Belgrado, in Serbia. Prima di arrivarci abbiamo sorvolato Apatin in Serbia, Vukovar, in Croazia e di nuovo in Serbia su Novi Sad.
A Belgrado il fiume si snoda verso Est. Di seguito incontriamo: Smederevo Fortress, la cittadina di Zatonje, il confine geografico che divide la Serbia con la Romania, la cittadina di Liubcova in Romania e da qui il fiume segue una serie di anse formando una suggestiva gola rocciosa, larga poche centinaia di metri.
Ora siamo su Donji Milanovac, in Serbia. Virata verso Nord e di nuovo ci sono le colline Rumene di Eșelnița.
Meravigliosa l'insenatura di Orșova. Viriamo ancora sull'Hydropower Plant, dove un ponte collega le due nazioni. Gura Văii è in Romania e di seguito la città di Drobeta-Turnu Severin. Qui ancora sono visibili le rovine del ponte di Trajano. Le osserviamo alla nostra sinistra, sul lato Serbo.
Proseguiamo sul versante Serbo a Velika Vrbica. Anche il Danubio vira bruscamente torcendosi su se stesso a Korbovo. Lo ritroviamo sull'isola fluviale che ospita Ostrovu Mare, (Romania). Ancora a Sud su Pristol, sulle abitazioni di Cetate, fino a Segarcea. Ora impostiamo gli strumenti per l'approach, la destinazione di questa tappa è prossima. Controvento per la pista 27. Aeroporto militare di Craiova.
Da Craiova (LRCV) si vola fino alla base aerea di Silistra Polkovnik Lambrinovo (LB12). La prua è ad Est. La Serbia cede le colline, le strade e le città alla Bulgaria. Il Danubio è sempre il protagonista assoluto. Dall'altra sponda, pochi Km a Nord c'è Bucarest: capitale della Romania.
Potremmo già raggiungere il Mar nero, invece il fiume, ancora pieno di energia, devia a Nord, Altre miglia da sorvolare in Romania: Cernavodă, Ciobanu,la città di Brăila, Galati. Pochi metri oltre, il Danubio bagna anche l'Ucraina. La tappa ci porta over Pătlăgeanca, simao vicini alla foce. Virata su Cardon, in prossimità del delta, ancora nei confini rumeni, tuttavia, la pista di arrivo è già in Ucraina. Tenpo di impostare il rateo per l'atterraggio. Il campo volo è appena percettibile, siamo a Suvorove, nell' Oblast di Odesa. Da questo piccolo aerodromo ripartiamo per lultima breve corsa. Il Tour finisce atterrando all'Aeroporto di Bucarest-Aurel Vlaicu. Oltre 1990 miglia.
Traveling along the Danube is an experience of considerable impact. The videos, optimized, tell the story of ten hours of flight. This time the Piper 34T Seneca V transports us. Another VFR trip. The first stage is coming to an end. We descend to the landing, RWY 07 on Manching Air Base.
The take off involves a quick turn north as soon as you reach the roofs of Biburg. A few miles to rediscover the course of the Danube when we set the bow north and then east towards Regensburg. The waters descend to the South-East, we fly over them passing through Oberschöllnach, still Germany. In Wimberg we enter Austria. Nearby there is Passau, in Bavarian Båssa: it is an extra-district city (53,907 inhabitants) in Germany located in Bavaria, on the eastern border with Austria. From Budapest we go south, as the river flows towards another capital: Belgrade, in Serbia. Before getting there we flew over Apatin in Serbia, Vukovar, in Croatia and back in Serbia over Novi Sad.
In Belgrade the river winds towards the East. Below we encounter: Smederevo Fortress, the town of Zatonje, the geographical border that divides Serbia with Romania, the town of Liubcova in Romania and from here the river follows a series of bends forming a suggestive rocky gorge, a few hundred meters wide.
Now we are on Donji Milanovac, in Serbia. Turn north and once again there are the Romanian hills of Eșelnița.
The Orșova cove is wonderful. We turn again on the Hydropower Plant, where a bridge connects the two nations. Gura Văii is in Romania and below is the city of Drobeta-Turnu Severin. Here the ruins of the Trajano bridge are still visible. We observe them on our left, on the Serbian side.
We continue on the Serbian side to Velika Vrbica. The Danube also turns sharply, twisting on itself at Korbovo. We find it on the river island that hosts Ostrovu Mare, (Romania). Further south on Pristol, on the houses of Cetate, up to Segarcea. Now let's set up the tools for the approach, the destination of this stage is close. Upwind for runway 27. Craiova military airport.
From Craiova (LRCV) you fly to the Silistra Polkovnik Lambrinovo air base (LB12). The bow is to the East. Serbia cedes its hills, roads and cities to Bulgaria. The Danube is always the absolute protagonist. On the other side, a few kilometers to the north is Bucharest: the capital of Romania.
We could already reach the Black Sea, but instead the river, still full of energy, diverts to the North. Other miles to fly over in Romania: Cernavodă, Ciobanu, the city of Brăila, Galati. A few meters further on, the Danube also flows into Ukraine. The stage takes us over Pătlăgeanca, close to the mouth. Turning towards Cardon, near the delta, still within the Romanian borders, however, the arrival runway is already in Ukraine. Trying to set the landing rate. The airfield is barely perceptible, we are in Suvorove, in the Odesa Oblast. From this small aerodrome we set off again for the last short run. The Tour ends by landing at Bucharest-Aurel Vlaicu Airport. Over 1990 miles.
